Counting Down!

Saturday, July 7, 2012

I finally made up my mind and decided what kind of countdown I wanted to make!  I am really in love with how mine turned out:

I went with the blocks!  My dad is a carpenter, so I had him make my blocks from scrap wood he had.  I know Michael's/Joanns sells them too though.  I used leftover paint from my chalkboard to paint it to match my kitchen, and then I had my friend cut a piece of chalkboard vinyl so I could write the countdown occasion.  The main purpose of making the countdown was obviously to countdown to Josh's arrival home, but I decided to make it multifunctional (hence coordinating colors and chalkboard vinyl) so that I could use it after he got home for the wedding, babies, etc!
I also made the middle block dual purpose so I could countdown via Days or Weeks:
It's perfect!!! Clearly, the countdown is not right -- I just threw the blocks on for the photos, but when I posted these on my Facebook, people were very confused by those numbers.  Whoops!

Overall, I'm really loving it!

I want to make something very similar to this, what numbers did you put on which blocks...this is where I'm hung up.

I just bought some sticker numbers from Joanns and used those!

      Hope that helps!

Yeah do you make 4 blocks so you can have double the numbers? I guess I'm lost on the numbers too how did you number each block

I'm sorry! I am just now seeing this! I did make four blocks - I have two of each number 0-9 and then a third for 0-5 (I think)! It works out well for me! I didn't really apply them with any defined method: the first block got 1-6, second 7-0 and then another 1 and 2... I just tried to keep them in order as I went but I don't think it matters.

      Hope that helps!

I was also wondering the same thing!! What numbers do you put on each block? Did you make 4 blocks to interchange them!?

Okay Thank you! I figured I'm going to have to make a forth block! Yours are super cute though!
